Answer each of the following questions:
1.  What did I learn?
2.  So what does it mean to me in the context of other learning that I have done in this class or other classes?
3.  Now what am I going to do about (or with) what I have learned or experienced?

Tonight in class I learned how to create a useful rubric and it actually took little effort (which I love by the way) because I believe in working SMART and NOT HARD.It is important for the teacher's grading system (i.e. Rubrics) to be understandable and parallel to the subject which is being taught (i.e. you would not want to use a poster rubric for a public speaking class). I will be sure to keep this in mind for my future students because it is important for them to understand how they are being graded and what they are being graded on before the class and during the class.

ReplyDeleteToday we began by writing one burning question we had about today’s lesson. Each person ask their question and other classmates responded to their question. We learned about evaluating students in the classroom. This includes standardized testing. WE learned about rubrics and how to create them in Rubistar. We discussed possible ways to test students. WE read article on Taming the Chaos. WE worked on activities in the class. We reviewed formative assessments and summative assessments and examples of each type of assessment.
this is a test of the emergency broadcast system. This is only a test. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppppppppppppppppppp
ReplyDeleteWe covered student evaluation tonight. We looked at formative and summative assessment and the advantages and disadvantages. So we dealt with portfolio assessment and rubric assessment. WE looked at what goes in a portfolio and how to tailor our portfolio to reveal our many skills and talents. We played around with rubrics and I personally like it the most. It gives you a solid way of assessing students without bias. Especially when you have many pieces to evaluate, the rubric streamlines the process. It gives you standard.
ReplyDeleteWith the link shared in class, it gives us a tool to create rubrics and look at rubrics created by other teachers. We should use any methods we can find to make us better teachers and to bring creativity into the classroom. Our students will benefit from our learning and the more tools we have in our toolbox will only make it possible to teach better.
I plan to take what I’ve learned tonight and create my own personal resource portfolio. I can see how invaluable this will be as I prepare for a life in the wonderful world of teaching.
