Answer each of the following questions:
1. What did I learn?
2. So what does it mean to me in the context of other learning that I have done in this class or other classes?
3. Now what am I going to do about (or with) what I have learned or experienced?
In class we went over the course syllabus and made a list of the characteristics of the best teachers. As a student, I look for a teacher to have similar characteristics that I have. It is important to treat others as I want to be treated in any setting.
ReplyDeleteReflect on what you have learned. Address each of the following questions:
ReplyDeleteWhat did I learn?
Today we learned the roles of teachers and how to use our skills and knowledge to help students with different learning styles. We learned how to build on things and do research to help us understand the students. We discussed formative evaluations and summative evaluations and the differences of these terms. We reviewed Gagne’s 8 levels of learning.
So what does it mean to me in the context of other learning that I’ve done in this class or other classes?
This lesson has opened my mind to different ways to accommodate students learning styles to be effective. Comparing this lesson to others I have learned I need to research and understand Gagne’s levels of learning so I can be productive in teaching.
Now, what am I going to do about (or with) what I’ve learned or experienced?
I need to learn how to observe the children so I can learn their style to get my lesson across. Relate these styles to Gagne’s theory.
Tonight we went over the syllabus and the objectives for the weekend. We began by looking at the Basic Teaching Steps, which are Preparation, Presentation, Application, and Evaluation. We covered how, as it relates to teaching, we need to be able to apply these steps when we prepare our lesson plans and get ready to teach our classes. We also addressed formative and summative assessments. Formative we assess along the way and with summative we assess at the end.
ReplyDeleteThese points refresh my learning I obtained in Educational Psychology. It gave a foundation to build upon. Even though we prepared a lesson plan in that class, in the course we are spending more time on the mechanics of writing good objectives and being able to look at our material and ensuring we meet our goals.
I plan to take this material and add to the things I already understand. As I become more proficient in writing objectives I will write better lesson plans and my understanding of the classroom environment will improve.
