Reflect on what you have learned. Questions to consider:
1. What did I learn?
2. So what does it mean to me in the context of other learning that I have done in this class or other classes?
3. Now what am I going to do about (or with) what I have learned or experienced?

On Friday evening, we covered Chapter 11 exercise, and completed two applications, as well as had five Chapter 13 presentations. We also peeked at George Siemens' "Handbook of Emerging Technologies for Learning."
ReplyDeleteFrom the application exercises and class discussion, I learned new ways to use media in instruction. I am beginning to understand ways in which the presentation of content can be augmented, thereby, casting a "wider net" for learners, and hopefully improving learning outcomes for a greater number of learners.
Interlacing media into an instructional plan is something very new to me. It's exciting to learn ways in which media can be used, because, as we discussed last night, while the instructor is the key, sometimes it takes multiple ways of presentation before a concept clicks for a learner.
Great evening, Gang. Good axiom: "If the student has failed, the teacher has failed." Excellent resource: Geo. Seimens: The Handbook of Emerging Technology. Useful stuff
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Friday's night session. I learned several different media tools to use when I will be instructing my students. I learned that media should also be used in small doses. i learned that a MAC computer would be a great tool to get when thinking about lesson plans. I learned that video taping oneself is also a good tool when evaluating one self, and assesssing students. I learned that most people like a rubic. This is a good tool when assessing, because it makes it easy on the student to know what to expect.
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting that so much of education is fused with media outlets that are not textbooks. The way we can access information on just about any and everything has taken learning to another level. Media tools help keep learning interactive, relevant, and current.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Friday evenings session and enjoyed learning about the different media sources that are available to use for our students. I like when professors use other teaching methods besides the standard lecture. I like how Dr. Wright used the flip camera in class durring class presentations and also showed other means of technology including audio, podcasts, powerpoints, group activites, etc. WE also had class presentations on interviews, rubrics, peer to peer evaluation, portfolios, and assessment tools.
ReplyDeleteI learned that there many different tools that are implemented in assessing a student's performance, such as rubrics, peer review, check lists, portfolios, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe type of class which is being taught will dictate with tool or tools would work best to benefit the students.
I think that I would use rubrics because they seem to be the most helpful when giving student an outline of what is expected of them and the worth (points earned) for each assignment and the total as a whole.
